18 December 2014 The 2014 UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) results were announced earlier today. The REF results are important in confirming the research reputations of individual universities and subject areas but also have a significant and direct impact on the distribution of research funding. Overall the University of Edinburgh became 4th in the UK, with research at the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) and Edinburgh Neuroscience ranked 3rd and Clinical Medicine (College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, CMVM) ranked 4th. CRM Director Prof Charles ffrench-Constant said: "Congratulations to CRM's team of world leading researchers, who contributed to the University of Edinburgh's excellent REF results on output and impact, in particular for SBS, CMVM and Edinburgh Neuroscience."
