Kamil R Kranc, Professor of Molecular Haematology, and his PhD students and Post Docs have joined the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine (CRM) today.

Prof Kranc and his research group aim to understand how normal blood stem cells, also called haematopoietic stem cells, function and how they are corrupted under pathological conditions to cause blood cancers like leukaemia.

Prof Charles ffrench-Constant, Director of CRM, commented: “It’s a great pleasure to welcome Kamil and his team to CRM. His work on haematopoietic stem cells and blood cancers will be a wonderful addition to our strength in tissue stem cell biology and its application to regenerative medicine.”

There are now more than 230 researchers in the growing scientific community of CRM.

Prof Kamil R Kranc, CRUK Senior Cancer Research Fellow, said: “We are delighted to be part of CRM’s excellent multidisciplinary environment. My team and I are looking forward to further develop our haematopoietic stem cell research and set up many collaborations with our new colleagues here at CRM.”

Prof Kranc, who moved over from the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Cancer Sciences, continued: “Cancer Research UK supports our work on blood cancers and I am very grateful for their flexibility to take my CRUK fellowship to CRM.”
